About Atlas Theatre Company
Atlas Theatre Company was created as a place for artists, of all levels, to come together and tell stories that engage, entertain, and work to enlighten those who take part in the experience - as artist or audience. Learn more about Atlas, who we are, and where we are going in the future!
HISTORY
Atlas Theatre Company was founded in 2005 in Seattle, WA. Prior to starting to produce independently, Atlas collaborated with various performing arts organizations in the Puget Sound area; continuing to do this sort of work today with performance and education entities throughout the country.
The first All-Atlas production was Helen Edmondson’s adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel, ANNA KARENINA; playing to sold-out audiences throughout its run and garnishing audience and critical acclaim. THE MEMORY OF WATER was Atlas’ follow-up production, gaining Best Play of 2005 recognition from the Seattle Times.
Following that first year, Atlas relocated to Founding Artistic Director Chris Mayse’s hometown of Las Vegas, NV, where productions were developed both independently as well as in conjunction with other performing arts groups in Southern Nevada including the College of Southern Nevada, Vegas Theatre Company (formerly Cockroach Theatre), the Onyx Theatre, and others. A brief stint inIdaho had Atlas doing more educational outreach to the artists in that area.
And now, Atlas calls NE Wisconsin home, where production collaboration has gone on for the past year with Studio170; developing their theatrical and dance performances throughout their calendar year.
